👇🏼P.O.I.N.T. Explained Pure Grit only got me so far with keeping my cool and was not working especially after long days and low ADHD capacity days. I worked with what I’ve learned about my nervous system to develop a simple reminder for myself my kids and my clients to help them to self regulate in a way that worked with what we understand about ADHD. P- Pause, ADHD brains really struggle with inhibition and come off explosive or impulsive, learning how to create a pause between the trigger and the reaction (which I didn’t fully demonstrate perfectly in this video) is essential for regaining choice over our actions. O- Out of brain: when we are triggered we tend to be in the one place that is the least regulated with all kinds of unproductive thoughts and narratives swarming us, our brain. This fight and flight response is there to keep us alive in life or death situations but rarely what we are responding to is actually that extreme. I- Into Our body: Our body gives us many clues as to what big emotions we are actually feeling the strongest. I like to notice where the most intense energy is vibrating in my body and then allow it to be there- sometimes it is helpful for me to name the emotion that I find in my body. N- Nurture: after I have found that big emotion and allowed it to exist it’s important I remind my body that it is actually safe and well and doing a good job at trying to protect me but we are not actually in danger. I tell myself I am allowed to have big emotions and that now I get to choose what I’d like to do with them. T- Turn to Love: once I have regulated myself enough to choose to act I turn my gaze to the overall concept/emotion of unconditional love and let that fuel my next choice. #adhd #adhdawareness #adhdsupport #adhdregulation #adhdbrain #adhdemotions #emotionalregulation #emotionaldisregulation #emotionalintelligence #adhdcoach #adhdcoaching #masteryouremotions #adultadhd #angerissues #angermanagement #ldslifecoach #selfregulation #traumahealing #traumarecovery #traumainformedcoaching #adhdtools #adhdhacks #adhdmom #adhdparenting #adhdbusinessowners #adhdinwomen #kamdenadhd
