In a 214-213 vote, House Republicans on Tuesday impeached U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas because, in their view, he “willfully and systematically refused to comply with Federal immigration laws.” It was the first time that a sitting Cabinet member was impeached, and came just one week after Republicans failed to push through a similar measure.
