I used to wear self awareness as a badge of honor, until I realized how detrimental and painful it was to not recognize the ways in which it fueled an unconscious addiction to shame. Your girl used to be hella caught up in the WHYs (and yes, sometimes I still do ok)— I used to always seek to understand and needed an explanation for every little mf thing. I couldn’t just let things… BE. Which meant I was also running away from facing myself and my feelings. Sh!t, I couldn’t even identify emotions or feelings for a really long time. I was so deeply ashamed and scared of them. It took me away from being present. It took me away from the reality of situations. I became addicted to finding the answers and wasn’t okay with the unknown (which is literally part of what makes life beautiful)… I slipped into the victim mentality of “why me” and fell into self sabotaging and self defeating behaviors. Self intellectualization became my favorite way to dissociate. I’m lucky and privileged to have had the support and resources to help me uncover these patterns and begin asking myself “what happened?” instead of “what’s wrong with me?” Over time, I’ve developed the muscle of self-understanding, and do my best to train it as often as I can. It would be dishonest to say that I don’t fall back into old habits of self intellectualization and bypassing my emotions… pero like that’s life, and I’m only human, right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ There’s a reason millions of people have resonated with the original post. It shows us the bigger issue, and the need for accessible resources and tools for emotional and mental health care. You’re not alone. You can get unstuck. Regardless of where you’re at, you have support around you and I’m cheering you on! Forever grateful for mental health professionals like @flynnskidmore sharing accessible tools and helpful guidance for those on their own healing journeys! Take care of yourself, so you can better take care of others. ✨ Mahal kita 💜 #mentalhealth #mentalhealthcommunity #asianamerican #shame #traumatok

This post won’t apply to everyBODY, so take what resonates and leave the rest babygirl. One of the best exercises I do is sitting with my discomfort in why I can’t give myself a damn break. What B$ am I avoiding? A “successful” fitness regimen isn't complete without rest days. And taking other aspects of health into account because ~it’s all interconnected~ boo Another reframe that was helpful easing me into taking pretty girl pauses was referring to them as “active recovery days” Taking breaks allows your body to rebuild & repair itself from the hard work you put in. It's a critical part of progress, regardless of your wellness goals, fitness level or sport. Bc yes, there will be a point of diminishing returns. I lived it, and sometimes I feel like I’m still recovering from it. Also, let’s not forget the modern overstimulation that brings our energy usage up… Or if you’re someone like me that overthinks and struggles with energy management. Active recovery reframes include: 🪩 focusing on flexibility & relaxation 🪩 taking time to enjoy the beautiful gift around us everyday 🪩 enjoying a low-impact movements to promote muscle recovery 🪩 opting for a casual movements get your blood flowing without intense exertion 🪩 using a foam roller for self-myofascial release to alleviate muscle tightness 🪩 dynamic stretching to enhance flexibility & mobility 🪩 improve mind-muscle connection 🪩 engaging in mindfulness to relax your mind & reduce stress Humans have a need for autonomy; nobody likes being bossed around, even if it’s coming from your own mind. That’s why constant self-criticism leads us to rebel against behaviors we know are in our best interest. Take care of yourself, so you can take care of others. <3 #restday #gymtok #mentalhealth

It's the secret to experiencing the finer things in life. I’m talkin peace, joy and fulfillment. Experience is filtered through the lens of how your body feels. Super Mario Land can be the most magical place in the world if you're feeling embodied, peaceful and grounded. It could also be the worst if you're feeling anxious or overwhelmed. Thriving on the outside ≠ thriving on the inside Emotions like fear, anxiety, anger, sadness, holding a grudge, intense dislike, jealousy, shame, frustration, etc. interfere with the body’s natural balance & harmony. Carrying emotional weight can keep us stuck in unconscious, habitual reactions and stories until we release them. (Sometimes referred to as “embodied emotions”) If left unfelt and unprocessed repeatedly, your natty flow of energy is disrupted. Energy is everything. Buried emotions can also manifest as sickness, physical aches/pains, anxiety or other mental health struggles, etc. The point isn’t to never have difficult emotions. Allowing instead of resisting. Personally, I’ve found the deeper I repress, my body reacts with more intensity. Becoming aware of them when they arise is a constant practice. These reps matter most IMHO. This list is def not comprehensive.. But examples of how this could manifest are: behavior– excessive drinking, spending, eating, outbursts of tears or anger menty health– anxiety, depression, irritability, moodiness, ADHD physical health– chronic fatigue, gastrointestinal problems, unhealthy weight loss/gain, extreme changes in eating habits other– inflammation, chronic health issues, undermining overall well-being BFFR - It doesn’t have to be SUPER complicated or expensive like some influencers portray it to be. Pero like, while emotions may release temporarily, it may not be the deeper cause of the release. Call it a gateway. Other release techniques include: Breathwork Meditation (ofc) Hitting pillows Massage Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Yoga Shaking Stretching EMDR What’s your favorite way to release emotions from the body? #healing #emotions #mentalhealth #emotionalhealth
