info
This is a common household arthropod that I’m sure many of you can relate to seeing in your homes. I typically find House Centipedes (Scutigera coleoptrata) in my bathroom and basement from time to time. I hear a lot about people killing these guys when they see them, mostly out of fear. These myriapods are actually quite beneficial to have living in your homes! These centipedes feed on a variety of common household insects and other arthropods that are typically found in people’s houses. Using their long skinny legs, these centipedes scurry across the floors in search of prey. These centipedes rely heavily on their super long sensitive antennas to detect vibrations. When catching prey, these centipedes grip their prey item using their sharp piercing appendages called forcipules to deliver an injection of venom to paralyze their victims! *Hand drawn stickers added to my store’s website for purchase via link in bio!
