3 (science-backed) ways to show up for yourself (when you lack motivation) 1. Write down all of the stuff you have done and skills you've gained or have on a Google document. You can freeflow on the page or use a previous job description as a starting structure. There's no test; this is about putting your truth on paper. 2. Invest in that one thing you've wanted to do - but have yet to have a chance to. Investing means financially, physically or emotionally. Book the flight, buy those trainers or say yes to the coffee. The hardest thing is starting - everything else flows. 3. Practise self-compassion, which decreases psychological distress, reduces the symptoms of anxiety and depression, and reduces the harmful effects of stress. Ultimately, this is about taking a step back and giving yourself time to figure things out. We often lose motivation because we compare to others instead of taking care of ourselves. Ted talk on Failure - FAILURE COMES BEFORE RESILIENCE - Sonya Barlow - https://youtu.be/YmlDNi9zPd4 This weekend, we've seen another wave of layoffs across all industries and people losing motivation despite the cost of living crisis. It's tough, and more often than not, we take it personally. As someone laid off, I can appreciate this raw moment and want to remind you that you are enough. If you need more help, feel free to drop me a line. I am always happy to help with introductions, advice, or mentorship. @lmfnetwork #layoffs #diversityandinclusion #iwd2024 #careeradvice #failure #mondaymotivation #failingatlife #workfail #travel #keynotespeaker #tedxtalks #tedspeaker #sonyabarlow #lifelessonsinmy20s #lifelessons
