Thw power dynamic of coercion allows the adult in power to prioritize self-protection ar the expense of both the child’s well-being and the relationship itself. It is not conscious Parents do not often mean to consciously steamrole over their child’s feelings and needs. It is because parents were also controlled as children and they know no other way. My work here is to implore parents to dismantle this dynamic in order to find a deep, loving, mutually beneficial relationship with their kids.
