#onthisday ouuu I don’t think I’ve ever reposed this video… It is true I didnt tell the artist @KWON310 that it was my face until the 2nd or 3rd (of 6 or 7) sessions…We were on a tight schedule as Kwon was heading back to South Korea within a few weeks… I think I didnt want him to be nervous maybe?? Haha, in retrospect I could have easily told him…. Probably a good philosophy to always be honest with your tattoo artist (duh!)- He wasn’t mad of course, but definitely surprised….we spent a LOT of time designing the tattoo before we started…Now that I can talk about what was going on in my life at the time, i can tell you a little more about the tattoo….It represents strength NOT ONLY for Indigenous women, the families and children affected by the residential school system, MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women), and the unique challenges faced by indigenous women everywhere making them some of the STRONGEST most resilient people in this present day….but also for myself as a first nations woman who survived and escaped domestic violence #mmiwHOULD go without saying, but I AM ‘status’ First Nations, Mi’kmaq #firstnations … Anytime my tattoo is posted or I discuss First Nations topics here the comments section can get pretty heated. I do NOT tolerate hatespeech, or misinformation… Keep it productive and positive please 🙌🏼🩵 #dv #mikmaq #mmiw #canada
