An eastern diamondback showcasing some notable behavior. If a snake is detected by a possible threat one of their first instincts is to flee and hide. Sometimes on rare occasions you can end up blocking the only emergency exit, and the snake might have to slither right past you in order to escape. Here the snake rattles at me to get me to back off then squeezes past in order to get to the denser brush where it can hide. It may look like it strikes too, but the snake doesn’t open its mouth at all. Snakes are not aggressive animals and will do everything they can to avoid conflict first. #crotalusadamanteus #diamondback #rattlesnake #easterndiamondback #snake #venomous
