Dendritic cells (DCs) are key players in the immune system. They act as sentinels, constantly scanning the body for pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, or cancer cells. Upon encountering these invaders, DCs capture and process the foreign material, then travel to the lymph nodes. There, they present pieces of the pathogens (antigens) to T-cells, essentially educating and activating them. This action kickstarts the adaptive immune response, allowing the body to specifically target and remember the invaders for future defense. #dendrite #cellsatwork #dendritic #immunesystem #immunology #immunologist #tcells #biology #biochem #cellbiology
