Emotions are a real thing when you are a mama. Emotions have a whole new meaning when you’re a quarterback mom. Sometimes you don’t know when those different emotions will hit. This past Friday nights game was an emotion that I have never experienced before a game. This isn’t my first rodeo on being a boy mom, a sports mom and even a football mom. Walker is my 4th son. All 3 of his older brothers played football and one even at the D1 college level, but none were QB. Before their games, I was always nervous but it was a nervousness of hope they have a great game & don’t get hurt. Quarterback mom game day nervousness goes to a whole new level, especially when you are playing your hometown rival, it’s your senior year and your other 3 brothers played at the hometown rival. You have friends on both sides and they just never lose a game - like ever. A friends of mine was at the school Friday afternoon and saw Walker in a room all by himself praying with his Bible & his football on top of the Bible 😭 I’m sure also listening to Christian music, getting his mind focused on the most important part of the game. When my friend gave me these pictures, I just couldn’t hold myself together - like AT ALL. Every emotion I had came out. At that moment, my mind took me to my little toddler who is now a man. It took me to he’s leaving in a few short months to go play at an even bigger playing field, the SEC. I immediately wanted to protect him because I can’t imagine the pressure my son feels on a daily basis and my emotions of tears just couldn’t stop. When I talk to him, he doesn’t feel it the way I feel it and I guess that’s just my mama heart wanting to protect his heart. I know how people treat QBs - good one week, bad the next depending on how they perform. That’s also the game if football - you win some & you lose some. But when you keep Christ at the center of it all, How can you lose? Your hope is in things eternal. You know God is on your side so you can play with a different mindset & that’s what Walker does. So much goes on behind the scenes of a sports mama so I decided to show you one of my hardest emotional times to date of raising 4 sons & all of them playing sports for 15+ years.
