Save this easy rotisserie chicken and rice porridge recipe! (Chao ga) It takes about 45 minutes to make and it’s the perfect weeknight dinner that even the pickiest eaters will love! Ingredients: Rotisserie chicken 2 tbsp oil 1/2 cup minced onion 4 tbsp minced garlic 4-5 slices of ginger 12 cups chicken stock/water 1 1/2 cups jasmine rice 2 tbsp chicken bouillon powder 1/2 tbsp rock sugar 1/4 tsp black pepper *2 tbsp fish sauce (optional) Heat oil in a pot then add garlic, onions and ginger. Cook for 2 minutes until aromatic. Add chicken bones and cook for 2-3 minute. Add chicken stock/water and let it come to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes. If using water only, increase amount of chicken bouillon powder. Rinse the rice under cold water. Add rice, cook for 25 minutes. Add shredded chicken and cook until for another 5 minutes. Taste and adjust the soup to your liking. I added 2 tbsp of fish sauce. (Not in video) If you prefer a thicker porridge, continue cooking until you get the consistency you’re looking for, but keep in mind that it will thicken as it sits as well. Optional : Remove the ginger pieces and thinly slice and add to nuoc Cham as a dipping sauce.
