Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone's birthday would be the same day?! ๐ฑ๐ Well, in South Korea ๐ฐ๐ท, that has been basically the situation for hundreds of years, until literally NOW! This is because Koreans have been counting years in a way that is very different from how we do it in the Western world. For them, when you are born you are already one year old, and every time you go through New Year's Eve, on December 31st, you turn one year older. This means in New Year's Eve every single Korean turns one year older at the exact same time! ๐ฏ๐บ๐ผ But on July 2023 the South Korean government announced that Korea is ditching the Korean age way, and from now on they will stick to the Western way. This created the most bizarre situation in which every Korean person in the world turned one year older in January first, but then in June they got one or even two years younger! By the way, this country is one of my favorites of all, Iโm so happy to be here! ๐ฐ๐ทโค๏ธ #southkorea #korea #corea #koreanage #koreanway #anyounghaseyo #koreanculture #seoul #travel #travelkorea #travelsouthkorea #solotravel #culture #interestingfactes #factsaboutkorea #lovekorea #koreans #koreanos #age #birthday #koreanbirthday
