For many people, the high âfunctioningâ is a manifestation OF the anxiety. Trying to achieve and succeed at all costs while struggling in silence. High Functioning is also a misnomer in many ways because while these individuals may be functioning outwardly in ways society praises (going to work, getting all Aâs, socializing, smiling, working out, etc) other basic daily tasks / functions often take the hit (from sleep to hygiene to hobbies to peace and self-compassion, etc.) High functioning anxiety is still anxiety and deserves healing and support!
