Thanks for all the love and support on our last post! We just wanted to show that all parrots thrive on companionship. That said, introducing a new parrot to the flock or a originally solo bird isn’t simple - it requires time, effort and conditioning (from the humans) and sometimes despite our best efforts, our birds just have a mind of their own and “choose” their partners/ friends. This is a throwback video of the initial days of Sharky being home. For these two, we took a long time before we allowed Sharky and Wolfie to be left alone unsupervised. All their interactions at the beginning were with us, and we focused on making it a super positive and rewarding experience for both of them. I taught Wolfie to share his toys with Sharky and made it into a fun, treat-filled game for Wolfie. Everytime Sharky was around, Wolfie got lots of love and attention and treats, together with Sharky. At the same time we allowed them to work out the dynamics of their own friendship.
