info
The male Red Campion flower has a white ruff in the centre, and yellow stamens of pollen sticking up above the petals. The female flower has five curly white stigmas emerging from the middle. Red Campion is a good example of a dioecious plant. πΈ Only about 5% of plants are dioecious, this is when flowers are either purely male or purely female on a plant. Dioecy means that self-pollination and inbreeding are impossible. Female flowers cannot make pollen and male flowers will not set seed or fruit. We love seeing Red Campion flowers from our Seedball mixes, they are fabulous flowers for pollinators and the larval food plant of the Campion moth. #flowerfacts #wildflowers #wildflowersoftiktok #seedballnaturescool #red #pink #redcampion #flower #flowerfriday #flower #pinkflower #britishflowers #campion
