When his tomb was discovered in 1922, it was believed a curse was casted on the people who found his body. Thirteen people who were present at the tomb’s opening died soon after and a rumor about “the curse of the Pharaohs” spread all over the world. Tutankhamun’s gold death mask is probably the most famous artifact ever found in Egypt. It was made out of over 24 pounds of solid gold and encrusted with lapis lazuli and semi-precious stones. It’s absolutely massive, carved by hand over 100 meters in to the core of a mountain.
