I left teaching ⬇️⬇️⬇️ After 8 years in the classroom, I have decided to leave teaching. I have excitedly accepted an offer to be an education technology specialist in higher education. I never thought I would leave teaching, let alone mid school year. I love my school, my department, my coworkers, and I love my students. But I am part of a larger movement in public education, where teachers feel disrespected by those in posititions of power and are forced to choose between a rewarding career they love and being paid what they are worth. This is the first year in my whole career where my paycheck was less then what I took home the year before, and I can no longer accept the disrespect teachers face. I am excited to start this new career, and as I do so I will continue to fight for teachers. I will fight for them to be paid their worth, to have smaller class sizes, to not have to spend their own money to fund their classrooms, and to fight the stigma that they must be self sacrificing and accept every thing added to their already full plates. #teachersoftiktok #texas #teacherlife
