You won’t believe it, but the key ingredient to making sriracha at home is MSG! You don’t even need salt for this recipe. Let’s make our own sriracha at home! Just 5 ingredients & some kitchen appliances! 1. Red peppers, bell peppers for extra pulp & color, several birds eye chilis for extra spice (you can omit the birds eye chilies) 2. Fresh bulb of garlic 3. Rice vinegar 4. White sugar 5. The most important key ingredient: msg #msg Step 1: clean and cut your peppers; use about 2 cups of peppers. Clean and peel a bulb of garlic Step 2: In a pot, add the peppers, garlic, and around 2 cups of rice vinegar. Let everything simmer for 20 minutes. Step 3: Drain the peppers and garlic from the vinegar. Then blend the mixture with a bit of that vinegar water Step 4: In a pot again, add in the mixture, 3 tablespoons of MSG & 3 tablespoons of white sugar. Let everything simmer for 3-5 minutes. Add in some of the cooked vinegar to reach the consistency that you prefer. 5. Make sure to taste as you add in more msg and/or sugar Bottle it up and place it in the fridge. You can use this homemade sriracha on anything you like! It tastes so good, and in my opinion even better than Huy Fong’s sriracha!
