Working with animals is not for the weak. I love what I do, but this career absolutely destroys your mental health. This past year has been extremely difficult for me. In December of 2022, my whole world crashed when Violet my whole world crashed when Violet was diagnosed with Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. Animals with IMHA have a very slim chance of survival, but I could not say goodbye to my soul dog. I held her almost lifeless body close to me as I balled my eyes out, unsure of what our future together looked like. After 5 days of hospitalization, 3 blood transfusions, a countless amout of medications and vet visits, and 7 months of aggressive treatment, lots of stress and tears, Violet was taken off of all of her medications for IMHA and she survived. She devolved a heart murmer from her IMHA which has gotten progressly worse over the last few months. She has an appointment to get an echocardiogram this Friday. We will find out a diganosis and see what her future may look like.
