Replying to @Coastline Leather Goods Tool Eulogy Drum Beat Breakdown: One minute drum lesson First 3 bar breakdown section = 45 bpm Second section full phrase = 62 bpm Song tempo = 91.5 bpm I’ve notated this the way I’ve always played it but you can play it with constant hi hat 16ths as well (the way Danny Carey actually plays it) I first learned this groove more than a decade ago and have always come back to it to make sure I still have it under my hands. One of the most satisfying grooves to master imo Maybe the most famous Tool groove, and one of my favorite all time drum breaks. Super creative and musical, and tricky to play This groove is amazing for balance, independence, and coordination because you’re essentially playing a different time signature on the hi hat than you are on kick and snare drum. Starting on beat 1, the hi hat pattern takes 3 beats to resolve, and the kick and snare pattern resolves after 4 beats. Together they take 3 full measures to resolve. The snare and bass drum pattern never changes in this groove, and alone is very simple. The 3/4 hi hat pattern imposed over that is what makes this groove complex. I’m doing this purely for fun so lemme know which groove to break down next Happy Practicing✌🏻 #drummer #drumlesson #drums #musiclesson #learnontiktok #learnwithtiktok #howto #drumming #drumbeat #drumvideo #groove #drumvid #dannycarey #eulogy #CapCut
