Comfort food = Khichri 👩🏽🍳🌱 Just like this Fall Ayurvedic Recipe for a healthy gut, our founders mother Chetna shares her secret to a warm bowl of Khichri. Have you tried this before?!🍲🇮🇳 To make it yourself, you’ll need 👇🏽 2 cups of basmati rice 1 cup of green lentils, moong daal A small bowl of ghee (two tablespoons) One teaspoon of pink Himalayan salt One teaspoon of turmeric powder A pinch of hing (asafoetida) 3/4 teaspoon of jeera (cumin seeds) 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds (we call it rai) Finely cut fresh pieces of ginger 1 Bowl of water Khichdi is best cooked with care, so follow these steps: 1) Turn on the stove to medium-high heat. 2) Place your cooking vessel on the hob. 3) As it gets hot, add two tablespoons of ghee. 4) Add Jeera, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, a pinch of Hing, and the turmeric powder too. Add in pieces of ginger. 5) Stir a little, and then add the mix of wet rice and moong daal. Remember not to add any water yet! 6) Simmer the rice and daal with all the masala spices. 7) Now, add your salt. 8) Lastly, add 3 cups of water, just like how Chetna measures the level of water by immersing the top of her fingers to the line level. 10) Stir it all and close the cooking vessel with a lid. After 15 to 20 minutes, your Khichri will be ready! Add a blob of ghee on top and serve hot. Enjoy! 🌿👩🏽🍳 #ayurveda #ayurvedalifestyle #ayurvediccooking #indiancooking #khichri #khichdi #guthealth #healthyguttips #ayurvedicrecipes
