Caught this clip in the midst of trying to review footage of where I last placed/had my phone (because believe it or not, #MomBrain, is a REAL THING). I sped up the video in order to match it with the audio because while my movements were slow, my pauses were a lot longer.🥺 This is me, showing so much love and affection to my second born, only to then look to my right and immediately feel #Guilty because my #FirstBorn fell asleep on the couch. We normally give our “goodnight kisses and goodnight hugs” before going to bed 🫂… but this time, I got so caught up with #BabySister that he eventually fell asleep next to me while patiently waiting for me to finish soothing her. No one prepares you for the little moments like these, where you pause to question yourself as a parent, and wonder if you did the best you could throughout the day, or if you could’ve done more. I mean, I’ve been so stuck on survival mode, to the point that— I didn’t realize Summer was officially coming to an end. If it wasn’t for the appointment reminder (for my 4 month old), I would have still thought I had a couple more weeks to make the best out of… and yes, that made me feel worse because I then started to question whether my little boy had a great Summer or not, or if he’ll be able to remember any highlights of it, or if the only thing he’ll remember are the times mom asked to “please give me a second” for all his little requests. 💔 I try to convince myself that I am doing a great job, because I know that I am—despite the second thoughts and self doubts. It’s just, I hold myself to an (unrealistic) expectation, you know, the ones where you think “I can do it ALL”, and when I do not fulfill that expectation, it triggers me. 😭 I honestly just need a way of snapping out of my guilt.
