If you struggle to feel engagement of your lower abs- give this exercise a try! This particular exercise is very helpful for getting the entire core fired up and ready to stabilize. I like to incorporate this into my warm-up exercises. One could argue that this shouldn’t be necessary, and I’d tend to agree in someone with a “normal” functioning body and core. Those aren’t the folks we tend to work with though and that’s not been my personal experience. I struggled with diastasis, multiple hernias, prolapses and pelvic floor dysfunction after giving birth. I also have hEDS and stabilizaing can be an ongoing struggle in my body. We see this in a lot of our bendy folks. One thing I love about this exercise is that I can see visually that everything is reflexively drawing in and up with this exercise. By incorporating the upper body into this core work we are bringing an extra level of engagement and stability. I also love being able to strengthen the core isometrically in a standing position. I will often use a small loop band, pilates ring, or squishy ball in between my hands for some lat engagement to support my core work, but this standing exercise with the band is still my favorite. What should we call this thing anyhow?? Drop a name suggestion below. As you can see in the video it was challenging even for Andrew. Play around with the tension of your band. You can also take it to another level by doing this standing on a single leg or even on a balance pad. Let me know what you think! #abdominalstrength #abdominals #abs #abexercise #abdominalexercises #abstrength #corestrength #coreexercises #coreexercise #heds #eds #hypermobility #hypermobileeds #postpartum #mother #mom #Isometricexercises #latstrength #latissimusdorsi #latexercise

Are you going about core the wrong way? Hip and core stability, like planks, is more important in heavy lifting than flexion, like situps. Most of us are alrewdy in hip and spinal flexion all day due to sitting. Reinforcing it with more flexion seems counterintuitive. Try mixing up your ab and core training with some stability and rotational work. Thoughts? #onthisday #corestrength #abstrength #plankabs #plankvariations

I want to get a stronger core- how many a day should I be doing on this machine? I want to use this, as I’m able to use this safely with my kids around in the morning - I mean I turn into a bridge for my sons car, and my daughter cheers me on, as she thinks I’m still too fat 😂😂 Thanks Luv x #abtraining #csection #tummytoning #abs #abroller #fitat40 #abstrength
