Finlarig Castle No passengers were beheaded in the making of this reel. You've probably seen this Castle a few times now. It's not so much the Hidden gem it once used to be, but it's still a castle you should definitely have on your list to visit. One story you've likely heard about the castle is that of the "Beheading Pit", where criminals and outlawed MacGregors were said to have been executed, while the Campbell Lairds watched from on high in their tower. Unfortunately, this is no more than folklore and was most likely a water tank used in the absence of a well. The castle was built by "Black" Duncan Campbell, the 7th Laird of Glenorchy, also known as Black Duncan of the Seven Castles due to his affinity for castles. He owned, adapted, and constructed the seven following castles. - Kilchurn Castle. - Finlarig Castle. - Edinample Castle. - Balloch Castle (Now replaced by Taymouth Castle). - Barcaldine Castle. - Achallader Castle. - Loch Dochart Castle. And here's me still without even one castle! If you're paying Finlarig Castle a visit, why not stop off at the Falls of Dochart, then go grab the key for the Clan McNab burial ground on Innis Bhuidhe (Inch Buie). #tartanviking #meninkilts #Highlander #scotland #scottish #british #scotlandiscalling #storiesfromscotland #scottishhistory #kilttok #scotlandtiktok
