The chromosomes become even more tightly packed. . 👉🏼Metaphase: The chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell, like they are on a plate. The spindle fibers attach to each chromosome to make sure they are properly aligned. . 👉🏼Anaphase: The pairs of chromosomes separate, and the spindle fibers pull them to opposite ends of the cell. . 👉🏼Telophase: The separated chromosomes reach the ends of the cell, and new nuclear membranes start forming around them. The chromosomes begin to relax and become less tightly packed. The spindle fibers break down. . 👉🏼Cytokinesis: The cell’s cytoplasm divides, forming two separate daughter cells. In animal cells, the cell pinches in the middle, while in plant cells, a wall-like structure forms to separate the two cells. . The nutritional composition of the tomato skin and the tomato pulp are quite different. This has to do with the fact that the skin and the pulp are very different at the cellular level. . For example, as you saw in the first part of the video, the tomato skin is composed of an external layer of cells that are tightly packed and that contain thick cellular walls (rich in cellulose. This is why most of the fiber in the tomato is in the skin!). . The cellular arrangement of the skin tissue makes it a great protective barrier for the tomato (against pathogens that may try to infect the inside of the tomato as well as against desiccation…). Interestingly, most of the red color of the tomato is in the skin cells. This is due to the fact that skin cells accumulate a lot of a carotenoid called Lycopene. . In the second part of the video you could see the much softer and thinner cellular walls of the pulp cells. These cells and loosely packed. This is why they broke apart from the pulp tissue easily when I punctured and squeezed the tomato. The pulp cells are bigger than the skin cells and contain a lot of water making the pulp tissue super soft and juicy. . I am amazed at the perfectly spherical shape of the pulp cells but I am really fascinated about the beautiful pattern that the skin cells form! . By the way, in case you are wondering, those tubular helical structures that you see in the pulp (second part of the video) are Xylem fragments, the vascular tissue that brings water and minerals to the tomato. . Dendritic cells (DCs) are key players in the immune system. They act as sentinels, constantly scanning the body for pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, or cancer cells. Upon encountering these invaders, DCs capture and process the foreign material, then travel to the lymph nodes.
