Malaysian Hokkien Mee Recipe 🥢 Caught my hubby, who claims to be a non-chef, trying his hand at Malaysian Hokkien Mee here in the Philippines. 🇵🇭 Excuse the raw video – capturing his kitchen antics is always a challenge! 😩😅 But trust me, this noodle dish is easy, satisfying, and definitely worth a try. *Ingredients:* - 1 kg Prawns (Peeled and Deveined) - 300g Squid (chopped) - 1 bulb Garlic (minced) - 500g Pork Belly (cut into small pieces) - 1 pc round Cabbage - 4 kg Thick Noodles (Egg Noodles or Lomi) - 1/4 cup Pork Oil - 1/4 cup Light Soy Sauce - 1/4 cup Dark Soy Sauce - 1/4 cup Oyster Sauce - 6 pcs Bok Choy (cut into 3) - Crispy Pork Bits (for garnish) *Chicken Soup Broth:* - 2 pcs Carrots (chopped) - 1/2 tbsp Ginger (chopped) - 1 whole Chicken Bone - 1 Chicken Bouillon (optional) - 3 White Onions - 4 pcs Dried Squid - 2L Water *Instructions:* 1. Make the broth: In a deep pan, combine carrots, ginger, chicken bone, chicken bouillon (optional), onion, dried squid, and water. Boil, then simmer for 1 hour. Set aside. 2. Fry prawns and squid separately. Set aside. 3. In the same wok, sauté garlic until fragrant. Add pork belly and fry until light brown. Mix in cabbage. 4. Pour in the broth (use a strainer), add noodles, pork oil, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Mix well. Adjust taste to preference. 5. Add cooked prawns, squid, and bokchoy. Mix until bokchoy is cooked. 6. Serve in a plate, garnish with crispy pork bits. Ideal for large families.
