The Giant “Te Amo” Peleta is very special to my sculpture journey. This was the start of using foam insulation as the base. We gave up on chicken wire… I haaate working with chicken wire… it hurts! Fully healed from my first carpal tunnel surgery this was the sculpture where there was no pain, no numbness, no struggle… my hands are so invaluable to me… I still remember the feeling of realizing my new reality of no pain. I was hurting for such a long time but it didn’t really hit me how much until I started sculpting. You see that attachment I have in the spray paint… heaven! Even though there was no pain there were still some things I was still working on getting back. Holding down a spray nozzle was one but the attachment made all the difference. And if there was ever two thing right in this world it would have to be Whataburger and Gorilla Glue. Obviously not together… but in their own right are perfect! Why Te Amo? Well I’m a “no sabo kid” that turned into a “sabo un pocito adult” and I wanted to flex my vocabulary because up until a few years ago I had no idea that Amo was another word for love. I always thought it was just “Te quiero” Not to mention we really ramped up out quality of production and innovation by making this sculpture travel friendly. The heart can be screwed on and off from the stick of the paleta and be stored away into 3 pieces: heart, stick and base. The idea is to make several different lollipop tops and interchange them on the stick. Isn’t that genius!? Every sculpture so far has been a milestone in my journey because I learn and experience so much with each one. But this paleta was a major key to my development as a sculptor. #sculpture #artjourney #starttofinish #valentinesday
