I had followed MoveU before I injured my back deadlifting in 2019 as I struggled with nagging injuries over the years and always enjoyed the videos. The day of my injury, I remember being picked up off the ground and I was unable to stand and I was overcome with this fear that I had just ruined my life for 3 extra reps. The next few years I experienced flair ups that prevented me from standing up at times and doing a lot of the things I enjoyed (Surfing, Snowboarding, Sailing, Skateboarding, Golf). In December of 2022, I experienced the worst flare up since the injury and I decided to get serious about my rehab, so I started RMT, Physio and Chiro three days a week for ten weeks. I felt great and was back in the gym starting to lift consistently again, but it was short lived. After 3 weeks, I was right back to square one. So I joined MoveU as a last desperation. I hoped that an online program with no hands-on experience could really solve my issues and fix my shit. In the first few weeks, it felt like my body was unwinding. While many of the movements were not new to me, there were some core things I learned about my body and how I function incorrectly that I believe really reset my foundation. The community gave me accountability that I didnβt have when trying to rehab on my own, as well as a recipe to follow. To my surprise I was pain free around week three, and began to start pushing harder in the gym with less fear of reinjury. Itβs now day 90 and my mindset has changed from how long I have left to do the things I love, to a none issue. I felt like I have been walking on eggshells for the last few years worried about my back failing me, and now that thought barely crosses my mind. I have picked back up mountain biking for the first time since my teenage years and Iβm back to following consistent programming in the gym. I have experienced a setback in the last few weeks, but I never expected my progression to be a straight line to pain free living. Now I have the tools to get back on track.
