Running does not happen on the heels. Yes, you can get away with heel striking with padded shoes. Yes, some top endurance athletes heel strike. Yes, over-striding is the real problem. But if you take away the shoes and just look at the foot’s natural function, heel striking while running is not realistic. Think about landing with the most foot surface area on the ground without letting the heel strike first. Depending on your pace, the heel may make contact later. When walking, a gentle heel strike is the most efficient option. The key word is GENTLE! Don’t slam those heels into the ground. Heel striking happens when you jog. I’ll do a post on when and where you might want to do that soon. But the biggest reason that most people can’t run correctly is because they don’t have strong enough feet and lower legs. Want help with that? DM me the word “RUN” and we’ll rebuild your foundation. - - - - - #feet #foot #footpain #athlete #barefoot #toes #bunions #foothealth #bunion #bigtoepain #orthotic #footstrength #run #running #runner #jogging #jog #enduranceathlete #marathon #sprinter #sprint #walk #walking #runningtips #runningtechnique #shoes #runningshoes
