I’m turning my daily into a track car, but are upgraded control arms really worth it? Here’s why you may want to look into them for your build: 1. Most stock arms have zero (or limited adjustability) when it comes to getting a good alignment. Most manufacturers dial in extra understeer and reduce maximum grip with their settings, which is not ideal for the track, and upgrade arms typically have a much wider range of adjustability. 2. Upgraded arms typically are stronger than stock ones. there are definitely higher levels of force and stress going through your components at track speeds, so beefing up your arms may be worth it. 3. Serviceable parts: Many stock arms have bushings or ball joints that are maintenance items, but are not designed to be removed individually. Even a new stock arm may be a solid improvement, but upgraded arms give the option to refresh your consumables without paying for the entire part again as things wear out. 4. Solid/Monoball bushings vs stock rubber. Even brand new rubber bushings will deflect and allow your alignment to change mid corner under heavy loads. this can lead to unstable, unpredictable handling and less confidence in your ride. solid bushings are much stiffer, and stay in place regardless of the load placed on them. this leads to more responsive handling and consistent feel, at the expense of some NVH.
