This is how I swim as an incomplete quadriplegic! I love the water so much since being injured because it's the one place where my body is all the same weight again. So many people were so perplexed, intrigued, and impressed watching me do this haha, I had lots of people come up to me after saying things like 'wow, I didn't know paralyzed people could swim by themselves', 'that was so impressive', 'looks like lots of work, but it's great to see you still doing it'. I think it's great to show the world that I am still able, even though I am in a wheelchair. That I can still do everything, it just looks different than before. It's taken a lot of practice to learn to hold my breath big enough to stay afloat and to try to utilize my 'good leg' in the water. Keep in mind I have no proprioception or ability to know where my body is in space, so I lose it if I'm not paying attention to it lol, which sounds just as weird as it feels. I hope to do so much more swimming this year to keep improving and showing you all that I am putting the ABLE in disabled! #swimming #teaching #paralyzed #quadriplegic #disabled #stillgotit #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #fypシ
