As counter-intuitive as it might be, asking for help is actually very effective for folks who are feeling depressed. Pay special attention to not make the task burdensome or tiring. They may not want to host (their house may be a mess), they may not want to “go out” and put on make up or get ready, they may not have tons of energy; find things that are enjoyable, easy, and make them feel useful or valued. When people feel like you’re trying to “fix” them, they resist.
