If any of my videos deserve to go viral, it’s this one. I know its not my everyday content, but this is a serious issue. I was about to sign a lease with this complex until the sudden change in management raised rent by almost $600 for the unit I was inquiring about. This is a clip from our local news station here in Knoxville. We have fortunately found an alternative but the fact that they refuse to give the people already living there time to find a new place to live is absolutely cruel. Most residents were not made aware of the price increase until a neighbor in the community placed signs on everyone’s doors to alert them what is happening. This is one of the few affordable neighborhoods for low income families, fixed income families, and retirees in Knoxville. Rand Property Management is known for taking low income apartments and forcing people out because they can’t afford to pay double the rent. They justify the price increases by saying it is to “make renovations” but hearing what tenants at their other properties have to say, these “renovations” never happen and what does happen is not worth the doubling in rent. They are giving people days to either resign and pay double, OR leave and potentially face homelessness. So glad that our local news is picking up this story and hoping for a positive outcome soon. Unfortunately this is completely legal in the state of Tennessee as there are no renters laws against the price gauging. This needs to stop. Please interact to help spread this to a wider audience. Feel free to google this company and read their reviews for more insight. This is not the only company doing this by any means, but this one is taking over East TN and parts of KY and hurting so many people by doing so. #knoxville #slumlord #randpropertymanagement #tennessee #pricegouging #kentucky #knoxvilletennessee #morristowntennessee #jeffersoncitytennessee
