Replying to @Flo using the power of your mind to trick your body. When someone says “there was a study” but doesn’t tell you the study, that’s a red flag lol. Although this sounds like absolute nonsense, you may be surprised to hear that there is some merit in it. Various research studies have given people identical drinks or snacks, but lied to them about their nutritional content. When people are tricked into thinking their drink contains less sugar, their blood glucose response was lower. When people are tricked into thinking their food contains more calories, it can influence their appetite-related hormones and even nudge their food intake for the rest of the day. This, my friends, is why placebo controlled trials are so important. Many people report miracles when they take X supplement or Y detox drink, but oftentimes that is because of the expectation effect of them thinking it will do something to them. Anecdote is often very close to useless because many people will attribute their results to something that actually does absolutely nothing. Just keep that in mind next time someone tries selling you the latest miracle product with lots of positive reviews. Would it outperform a placebo? P.S.
