I was pleasantly surprised to see Let the Right One In is now a new original series on SHOWTIME! That’s right IT’S A FULL ON SERIES NOW so buckle up this is gonna be a “bloody good” time! Let The Right One In (tv poster on screen) follows a bullied kid who meets a new friend in his neighborhood. But there’s a catch. This girl doesn’t get cold in the snow, doesn’t get hurt leaping from buildings, and can’t come inside unless invited. And also doesn’t deal well with the sun. Aaaaand she drinks blood. Do you- do ya get what I’m…. (deadpan) She’s a vampire. TRY TO KEEP UP HERE! This new deep dive expands the universe of the 2008 Swedish language vampire film, and for a very good reason. It turns out the film was based on a novel, and to cut it down for time the director focused mainly on the relationship between the children, but there was a LOT more going on in the book and THUS we have this new show which promises to be a very gritty, realistic view of vampirism that also dives into the father’s personal sacrifices, a dark detective story, serial unalivings, and MUCH- MORE- HORROR! I mean look at this cast, these shots! This trailer is sick and I can’t wait! Showtime hired me to let me to let you know that this show is being released as a part of their Halloween premium horror lineup with other shows like Yellowjackets which is like a modern Lord of the Flies situation with a bunch of female soccer players crashed out in the wilderness turning into cannibalistic clans. They've also got Dexter: New Blood, a revival of the iconic original series Dexter. There’s also a bunch of great films including Wrong Turn, Hereditary and of course Scream the self-proclaimed requel. They’ve also got a bunch of my favorites like Green Room with a scary Patrick Stewart, The Hole in the Ground, Silence of the Lambs, and one of my favorite found footage movies ever, Afflicted! I have a review coming for that soon, and it pairs surprisingly well with Let the Right One In which is one hell of a movie that still holds up 14 years later
