Here’s why I’d not, not train my calves 🌟 ⬇️ 2 years ago I couldn’t run 5k without stopping, this year I ran London marathon 6 weeks after running Barcelona marathon and I have now created my own hybrid half marathon challenge . Comment the word STRONG and I’ll DM you a hybrid training challenge to transform your running. Fun Fact! Did you know that The calf muscles are often referred to as the “second heart” because they play a crucial role in aiding blood circulation throughout the body? Listen I get it I was once strength training 5 times a week and only ever training my calves once in a blue moon. But calves are now at the top of my training to do list! You wouldn’t believe the amount of people I’ve spoken to who’ve started running and complained to me about pain in their calves! I know this from my own experience, if your calves are weak, they will cause you pain when running. HERES WHY YOU NEED TO TRAIN YOUR CALVES ⬇️ You might want to save this for later 📌 ⚡️ Shock absorption - strong calves help to absorb the impact of each foot strike, the stronger the calves the more force absorbed when running, the less risk of injury. ⚖️ Balance & Stability - Our calf muscles stabilise our ankles, our ankles are vital for maintaining balance whilst running and proper running mechanics. ❤️🩹Reduce the risk of injury - By ensuring our muscles and tendons are strong around this area can prevent common running injuries such as plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendinitis.
