Replying to @ Looking at #Wisconsin’s population map! The 20th most populous #state with 5,896,000 residents, and 25th largest by land area, Wisconsin is a rather evenly populated state, especially when you compare it to its neighbors of #Michigan, #Minnesota, and #Illinois, states where the majority of residents live in and around one urban area. The biggest city in Wisconsin is #Milwaukee, with about 600k residents, and 1.5m in the surrounding #metro, only accounting for 1/4 of the state’s population. #Madison, the second-largest city and state #capital, is located on an #isthmus between #LakeMendota and #LakeMonona, creating a very unique city-scape, and #GreenBay, perhaps the most famous city in the state, is home to the #Packers, the only publicly owned #NFL team in the country, which plays at the notoriously-hard-to-get-tickets-to #LambeauField. Other large cities in this state include #Wausau, #EauClaire, #Lacrosse, #Superior and the cities surrounding #LakeWinnebago, which are #Appleton, #Oshkosh, and #FondduLac. The state borders both #LakeMichigan and #LakeSuperior, and the southeasternmost county, #Kenosha, is considered part of Greater #Chicago. Its least populous county is #Menominee, which is almost entirely a reservation for the #MenomineeTribe. Something I forgot to mention is #DoorCounty, the peninsula jutting into Lake Michigan, which is a very popular tourist destination in the summer months as its home to 300 miles of shoreline, and the #ApostleIslands in Lake Superior, near #Bayfield and #Ashland. Also, Wisconsin is the birthplace of #Culvers.
