How many did you get right? When I first translated kuchen and torte it both translates to “cake”. But there is a difference.. could you spot it? Cream in between the layers or not. A Kuchen is usually dry or with a fruit topping or fruit filling, whereas a Torte has a rich filling, such as whipped cream, buttercream, or anything layered. So kuchen is often served with whipped cream on the side while Torten usually contain cream as part of their filling. Have you heard this before? The auntie at the end took me out! Drinking with Germans is so much fun, they have so many different chants and songs they sing while everyone joins in and knows it. When we visited Germany, I got to experience so many cool things and this was one of the cultural differences I loved. So much community and fun all together.
