We NEVER thought we’d be saying this but as always, parenting is a journey where you are constantly learning and after 4 boys and seeing the impact of the ipad we really do believe life is better without them (for both your kids and YOU as a parent) 🙏 It sounds crazy because even when we look back part of us believes we needed the ipads. They always gave us relief and a kept our kids occupied when we needed some time to ourselves. However, last summer we thought the ipads were starting to cause more harm than good. Even though we thought they were making our lives easier I really think they were actually making them much harder. They were constantly changing shows, would prefer to watch the ipad instead of playing, were always asking for them, and moody without them. That’s when we decided to just take them away. We truthfully thought it’d only last a day or two but 9 months later and they have barely been on. Actually, the only time they have had them was on a recent flight to Turks and Caicos and although it did give us some peace and quiet on the flight, it also reaffirmed taking them away was the best decision because the moment we landed at our hotel in paradise all they wanted were their ipads. As always, parenting is a journey, you learn as you go and it’s never easy. Ipads might not seem like a big deal now but again, in our experience we think our kids are better off without them. Watching our kids be imaginative, creative and playful kids was the best morning reminder ever 💙 Now our next test is to cut TV out during the mornings on the weekdays… We’ll see how it goes and report back 🤞 If you have any questions about how, why or thoughts on this please ask or share!
