One very often overlooked but simple thing to check during a camshaft install is the camshaft thrust clearance. If you have the engine out of the car, You can check it with a dial indicator much in the same way you would check the crankshaft thrust once everything is installed. however, most do-it-yourselfers do their LS cam swaps with the engine still in the vehicle. If you do it that way, the procedure is still very simple. All you do is install the thrust plate and sprocket onto your camshaft and then measure the gap with your feeler gauges. The tolerance is pretty wide, 0.001" to .012", But you certainly don't want to be above or below that range. there are a lot of cheap, out of tolerance, low quality parts on the market these days, so verifying every critical dimension is more crucial than ever before. #bentune #hptuners #dyno #tuning #gm #Chevrolet #Corvette #C6 #LS3 #LSX #streetcar #racecar #yellow #coupe #Grandsport #gs #6speed #automatic #transmission #btr #briantooleyracing #cam #camshaft #supercharger #Vortech #vortechsupercharger #v3 #mechanic #mechanicsoftiktok #Wednesday #work
