This is the 1977 video performance called “Three minute scream” by Gina Birch. It is on display at the exhibition called Women in Revolt at Tate Britain. I have overlaid onto it other images from the exhibition from the early years of the women’s liberation movement of the early 1970s. It captures Birch's release of pent-up anger and frustration, as she yells at the top of her lungs throughout the entire duration of a Super 8 film reel. In this same year, she formed the Post punk band, The Raincoats - she later went onto support Nirvana and produced videos for amongst other bands, New Order and the Libertines. She produced a solo album last year, called I play My Bass Loud. I think I’m going to buy it! ##thelondonspy##davidharry##tatebritain##womeninrevolt##feminism##womenartists##ginabirch##femaleartist##scream##feministart
