It’s so important to have deaf/HOUSE representation in media and films! We still have a long way to go, but it’s a start! By spreading awareness and education, this would help normalize assistive devices and reduce the negative stereotype that individuals with disabilities “can’t do anything”, because that is just so not true. We are fully capable of completing tasks and doing it well, if we are given the resources and opportunity to do so. There’s so much advanced technology out there nowadays that’s made it possible for Deaf/HOH individuals to accomplish their goals! Did you know that I have a Bluetooth amplified stethoscope that streams directly to my cochlear implant?! Now you do! I remember being 10 years old, had barely gotten my cochlear implant and was very insecure about it being shown, because it made me feel different and alone. If I’m being honest, I’m still battling insecurities with it and still haven’t fully gained the confidence of wearing my hair up out in public with my cochlear implant or hearing aid. But for little me, I always got so excited anytime I saw other people with it too! #deafnurse #registerednurse #deltaairlines #airplane #hearingaid #cochlearimplant #kanso2 #disability #deafawareness #HOH
