Sebaceous filaments are perfectly normal, but can be removed through by regular cleansing, whether that be an oil cleanser or regular cleanser. Cleansers with salicylic acid may help remove sebaceous filaments and slow their formation by exfoliating the pore and minimizing build up of dead cells. Sebaceous filaments are essentially collections of dead cells and dried sebum. In contrast, trichostasis spinulosa are those little black dots on the nose, which represent collections of vellus hairs. Blackheads are also very different from sebaceous filament. Blackheads are open comedones, which are pores clogged with a plug of cellular material. The material gets exposed to air and turns black. Salicylic acid cleansers may also help reduce blackhead formation, as well as minimize retention of vellus hairs, again, by exfoliating the pore and minimizing build up of dead cells. #sebaceousfilament #sebaceousfilamentremoval #sebaceousfilaments #dermatologist @Dani
