i can’t believe this is gonna be my last month of cooking in this kitchen 🥹🥲 this garlic pepper tofu has been on repeat the last couple of weeks — it’s so good, so easy, and depending on what veggies you have on hand, super customizable 🤝 Here’s what you’ll need to make it 👇 • 1 (16 oz) block extra firm tofu, pressed and thinly sliced
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 3 teaspoons fresh cracked black pepper, divided
• ¼ vegetarian oyster sauce or stir fry sauce
• ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
• 2 TBS sesame oil
• 1 TBS maple syrup
• 1 TBS dark soy sauce, optional
• 1 TBS cornstarch
• 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
• 1 red bell pepper, chopped
• 1 bunch green onion, thinly sliced, white and green parts separated
• 8 cloves fresh minced garlic
• 2-3 red chilies, optional
• White rice, for serving, optional
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the tofu on a prepared baking sheet, spray with a bit of oil, and season with the salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Bake until slightly crisped, 10 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
2. Meanwhile, place the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup, cornstarch, and remaining 2 teaspoons of pepper in a large bowl and whisk to combine. Set aside.
3. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or saute pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, stir fry the bell pepper and white parts of the green onion until translucent, 3 to 5 minutes. Add the garlic and red chilies and stir fry another minute.
4. Next, toss in the crispy tofu and reserved sauce and mix until all the tofu is coated. Simmer until the sauce thickens, 2 to 3 minutes.
5. Serve immediately with white rice and garnish with the reserved green onion, and enjoy! #tofu #tofurecipe #easyrecipes #20minutemeals #quickandeasyrecipes
