Finding joy in the little moments 💗 It is so easy to just GO GO GO....when the girls ramped into school 5 days a week in July, I was worried about how they would handle the long days...especially on days with “after school activities” (which would be swim class and play time at club house while Mom teaches at the gym - both 1x a week). We have been doing those activities for 1+ years, but always coming from home...never school. It was SO rushed the first week, everyone was frazzled, tired, and on edge. I told myself we have to change this....enter: TRUNK SNACK 🚘 🍿 I leave 15 minutes earlier than I typically would to pick them up and I bring a “surprise snack” that we enjoy in the trunk of the car, in the parking lot of the activity. We do it 1-2 times per week and it is amazing. Do people stare when they drive by? Totally. But also with twins, I am just used to this. We enjoy a few minutes together in a hybrid of silence, laughter, and talking about our day before transitioning into the evening rush. It gives such an intentional pause for both of us - J&K from a busy day at school and me after a busy day at work - honestly, I think I may start doing this in between school and coming home, because it’s a welcomed breather. With back to school around the corner...how do you manage the craziness of the transition?
