Wear what makes you COMFORTABLE, HAPPY & SAFE! It’s very hot where I live this time of year. I spend a lot of time outside. Sometimes the heat gets to me, and I feel more comfortable with less layers. Sometimes I worry about bug bites or cuts/scrapes from foliage, so I feel more comfortable with multiple layers or long layers. Your choices about your body and clothing are YOURS. Do whatever makes you feel happiest, safest, and most comfortable. Other folks’ choices about what to wear can and will be different from our own sometimes, and that’s okay. The way we dress ourselves is highly personal and based on many factors, including (but not limited to) religious and spiritual beliefs, cultural influences, economic factors, sensory issues, and what makes us feel safest in our own body. Though I initially felt apprehensive about taking my shirt off, I grew much more comfortable with it off once I realized two things: (1) how much it was helping me cool down, and (2) that no one was actually going to say anything to me about my stomach being slightly visible, which is a privilege. Many larger folks can’t escape harassment or unfair treatment/cruel looks from strangers no matter what they’re wearing or how covered/uncovered they are, which is another factor that can influence what makes an individual person feel safe and comfortable. Everyone has different preferences, concerns, and needs when it comes to clothes. Take care of yourself this summer and prioritize your comfort and safety however works best for you🤍 #bopotiktok #bodypositivity #positiveenergy #bodyacceptance #bodyconfidence #bodyneutrality #weartheshorts
