Safe Sleep Aware Nursery 👶🏻 Safe sleep is so important for babies, it’s helps reduce the risks of SIDS. Some of the factors we’ve put into place ahead our first baby are - We didn’t place our cot near a window or radiator, because of fluctuations in temperature. It’s recommended to place your babies cot on an internal wall! We got a second hand crib, so I had to ensure all the bars were safe, the right distance apart, clean and no sharp edges! The @lullabytrust and @nhsengland strongly recommend using a brand new mattress for each child for so many reasons! My go to brand is always @thelittlegreensheep as they are organic, they grow with your baby, and are tried and trusted! It’s also advised to use a waterproof breathable sheet on your mattress! The @thelittlegreensheep ones are the only ones I use, breathable, soft, waterproof, not noises, and well worth the spend!! Organic bed sheets! Mine are from @thegilded_bird and they are so pretty, crazy soft and organic!! A safe cot is a clear cot, no bumpers, cushions, soft toys etc etc! A variety of swaddles, and sleepsacks! Ensure the tog and the size is appropriate for your baby! They are all varied so it’s important to be aware! A room thermometer, this helps me see the room is within the “safe” zone for babies sleep, and helps me judge the best sleeping bag/swaddle for the baby too! A noise machine! White is the most popular, but babies are most responsive to “pink” noise, which is what they hear in the womb! I also chose this from @tommeetippeeuk as it’s a red light which doesn’t stimulate babies during the nights as much as white or blue lights! A monitor of your choice! We chose the @owletcareuk which we got from @naturalbabyshower I love that I can track sleep cycles using the sock to help learn my babies sleep patterns and build on sleep training from a younger age! Its also encouraged for your baby to sleep “feet to foot” of the cot! For more information and help on safe sleep, please visit the @lullabytrust and @nhsengland websites! There are more factors to be aware of, but these are some of the more obvious ones, and I’d like to spread the word! #safesleep
