🍀 The “Lucky 7” Athlete Indicators Great question! Evaluating an athlete in a short amount of time isn’t just about assessing skill—it’s about understanding their mindset, character, and potential. 1. First Impressions Matter: In the first 5-15 minutes, I’m watching their confidence, body language, and attentiveness. Are they engaged? Do they show up ready to learn and participate, or do they seem hesitant and distracted? 2. Response to Mistakes: Mistakes happen in every sport. What matters is how the athlete reacts. Do they shake it off, stay positive, and try again, or do they shut down and lose focus? 3. Emotional Reactions to Success and Failure: I observe how they respond after scoring a goal, getting a hit, or making a big play. Do they celebrate respectfully and stay composed? How about when they’re on the other end—do they handle tough moments with grace and determination? 4. Coachability: Are they listening to instructions and applying feedback? Coachable athletes stand out because they’re willing to learn and improve, even during an evaluation. 5. Team Interaction: How do they treat their teammates? Strong teammates elevate the entire group and show leadership potential. 6. Effort and Hustle: Skill is great, but effort is everything. I look for players who hustle, give 100%, and show consistent energy, no matter the drill or scenario. 7. Versatility and Adaptability: Can they adjust to different roles or positions? Athletes who can step outside their comfort zone and adapt are invaluable on any team. 👉 Follow The Coaching Dad for more insights built to help volunteer parent coaches. #ParentCoach #youthsportsparents #youthsports #sportsparents #CoachingKids #YouthAthlete #SportspsychologyTips #AthleteMindset #KidsSports #ParentingAthletes #SportsLeadership #AthleteDevelopment #SportsConfidence #parents #CoachingLife #teambuilding #SportsMotivation #ParentingTips #YouthAthleteSuccess #Parenting #fy #fypage #fypシ #youthbaseball #youthfootball #youthsoccer #youthvolleyball #youthbasketball #youthhockey #moms
