I know I say this all of the time but fall is my favorite season for produce 😍 Today I went to the store and was able to get some kiwi berries! These are so fun! They are literally like kiwis in a berry form. They don’t have the fuzzy skin like what you get with regular kiwis. These kiwi berries are really heavy with actinidin which is the enzyme that causes your mouth to tingle when eating kiwis. I decided to lightly toast them in salted butter to try and tone down that sensation and surprisingly it worked. I wanted to use these as a replacement for tomatoes with a warm buratta salad. I feel like having a tomato allergy has pushed me to learn an experiment with different foods and I am weirdly thankful for that aspect of the situation! I kept the flavors pretty simple and used lychee vinegar and fresh mint for the kiwis then seasoned the buratta with evoo, balsamic glaze, and lava salt! I felt this dish had a little bit of a spooky vibe to it so I garnished with some orange marigold petals! It turned out really refreshing and delicous 💚 #kiwiberries #rarefruit #fruittok
