This is one of the many brilliant Anjaam scenes of which is—to me—is not only the most evil villain he’s ever portrayed, but it’s also the best of his „dark“ films. While he plays Rahul in Darr equally brilliantly, the story, script, and most importantly, Madhuri, make Anjaam an absolute chilling masterpiece to me. Stuff I love: This scene perfectly sums up Vijay’s character. He’s spoilt, arrogant, and self-entitled. A true psychopath with strong narcissistic tendencies. When she jokes about him going to lose in a game of darts, she signals that she rejects being put into a submissive position. Vijay’s demeanor instantly changes from „seemingly“ well-meaning to outright aggressive. His eyes widen significantly, the eyebrows close in to the center, his nostrils flare up, and his upper lip thins as he shows his teeth (aggression), and ends with fixation (death stare). And all of these expressions and the transition from artifice to pure venom sum up Vijay perfectly, which makes it one of the most significant scenes to me. Or, in short: If eyes could kill, this would have been Shivani’s final seconds on earth.
